I didn't send out Christmas cards last holiday season, so I thought I would catch all of our friends and family up with a letter and pictures... hmmm

mopped kitchen -This one should really be at least 2 entries, cause it's a nasty off white-cracks and crevices - kind of kitchen linoleum... YUCK! Aside: I LOVE tile... cold but easy to clean! :)

Besides mopping, Perrin had a friend spend the night, went to the library, washed the left-over big pots and pans that S n P can't fit in the dishwasher and which keep pileing (sp?) up, sneaked a peek at the garage to start thinking of cleaning out

Smell-a-vision

dark chocolate
sweet I've been able to taste, but now I remember that there's a whole subtle almost-liquor taste that I've been missing.

Yes, I like hot... but have you ever picked up on the kind-of floral scent in the background while it's cooking?
yellow cake = hazlenut creamer flavor
Yes, they smell/taste very similar to me... before the creamer would have just cut the bitter taste of my Kroger brand coffee.

it smells cold... yes, I can smell a blizzard coming!
diesel fuel
yes, I know it's weird, but this is an almost comforting smell to me after many, many high school band trips... cigarette smoke (outside, not indoors) is up there too... but it's bad for you!

That was THE supreme disappointment for me when Moira was born... I could not smell the scent of the crib that I remembered, I couldn't smell the lotion, and I couldn't smell the diapers - good or bad (mixed blessing).
Ivory Soap
Clean, kind of antiseptic smell. Reminds me of VBS as a child, where we used it to make pin cusions. How's that for a memory?

The Lakehouse
What a sweet, sweet love story. Sandra Bullock, Keanue Reeves, the requisit happy ending that DH and I demand out of a good movie and a little space/time continuum thing thrown in for good measure. Watch it with your spouse and a box of tissues!
The Princess Bride
Will forever be my favorite... the movie my husbnad took me to see on our first date. Awwww... I like fairy tales and this one is funny for children and adults! A leetle bit of language (maybe 2 or 3 small times) and one scene of he finding her on her bed (fully clothed, though) about to plunge a knife through her bosom, he landing on her, cause he doesn't have full use of his extremities yet and some kissing (it's a fairy tale after all). I would definitly say "watch it" but, ' aaaaas yooouuu wiiisshhhhh"!

Favorite Books

Madeleine L'Engle: A Wrinkle In Time
Siblings go up against evil forces in their search through time for their father. This is another one of those boooks that I read as a child and would happily read a thousand times over! Have read most of the author's other books, all pretty good.
All of the Harry Potter books
You'd have to be living in a bubble somewhere to not know what the premise is to this one.
Ayn Rand: Atlas Shrugged
DH and I read this one together about 2 years ago... good if you've had it with "the establishment" and beauracracy. Don't care for her personal beliefs on religion, but that doesn't play much into the book.
Patterson: Jacob Have I Loved
Read this as a teen and would re-read it over and over again! Good coming of age, young lady book. East Coast is the backdrop... fishing is the family business and main character is the twin daughter everyone assumes will follow in the family business.
Charles Palliser: The Quincunx
Good mystery, intrigue book... very "thick", in the tradition of Dickens. Entertaining, but you have to be paying attention! England is the backdrop (of course).
